First Snow of the Season in Virginia!

It wasn't very much...just 1-2 inches but still exciting!

The A.T. Harris Hotel remained open for the day!

It was warm inside putting up Granny's Christmas tree! Anthony's favorite and first ordinment he placed on the tree was Santa on the John Deere tractor.

This musicial Santa has been passed along through our generations.

It belonged to Anthony's Great Grandma Mary.

The finished tree....perfect! Now it's play time!

Chocolate! Only at Granny's house could this be a meal!

Ministry Update

Free to Talk Ministries (our ministry) partnered with Heritage Cares Food Pantry to deliver their 9,800 pounds of food to their pantry today. The church's care ministry has been supporting between 125-175 families per week in the local community with groceries at no cost to those in need.

One family of six, that we brought to the food pantry three weeks ago, came to the church with us the following Sunday. Later that afternoon, we were blessed enough to lead all six of the family members in a prayer to commit their lives to Christ. The family has been attending the church every service for the past three weeks.

Our ministry of reaching out to those in the community in need has already begun. We are beginning to schedule seminars focused on marriage, family, and finances beginning February 2010. The third part of our ministry is preparing for disaster relief response counseling.  There will be more information to come. Once we receive our 501(c)(3) nonprofit status then we will be able to receive assistance for setting up our website and other ministry needs. Please be in prayer that we will receive our nonprofit status soon.

Great Granny Hanks' Christmas Tree

Monday night (12/01) we decorated Great Granny Hanks' Christmas tree! Anthony really enjoyed the ball garland the best!

Anthony and Thomas rested in the chair after such a hard day. Thomas had loaded 9,800 pounds of food, not once but twice when unloading (see ministry update above) and Anthony, well, he was just tired from playing so hard with his Great Granny Hanks! We made grilled cheese sandwiches and soup for dinner!
