Cooking with Grandma

Anthony loved cooking pies and cakes with Grandma Cockrell. They made a pumpkin pie and one of Grandma's world famous apple cakes!

The Fresh Apple Cake is world famous because when Thomas was on active duty with the United States Marine Corps, Mom would ship him a fresh apple cake where ever he was stationed, which included Hawaii and Japan! Whoever was there when the cake arrived got to enjoy a piece and they all loved it!

Anthony saying, "Egg! Egg!"

Fresh Apple Cake
* Mix together 1 ½ cup of oil and 2 cups sugar.
* Mix in gradually 3 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of
baking soda, 1 teaspoon of salt, and cinnamon.
* Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla and 4 cups of diced apples.
* Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Notice how tall Anthony is...he is half as big as
Grandma and is only 23 months old!

The geese that come in to eat each day!

Anthony hanging out with his Great Grandma Anthony's bear.

Anthony eating one of the apples that escaped the cake! Anthony loves to eat apples in it's whole state with the peeling off. He eats it to the core and when it breaks into pieces, he says, "Broke!"

Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving morning we tried to get a family photo and Anthony thought it was game on! We must of had about twenty takes to get one picture with us all looking in the same direction!

We had a fabulous thanksgiving lunch at Kim and Matt's house. Thank you so much, Kim, for the wonderful food! There were 28 people! Everything was perfect!

There is always plenty of competition for the choclate chess pie...the line forms quickly once the first person mentions pie!

Memaw and Poppy watched seven (7) grandkids so the siblings could go to the movies! We all had a great time. When we got back we had yummy leftovers from lunch!

Judson, Abbie, and Kenny gave Anthony his Christmas present..."Daddy's Co-Pilot" t-shirts! So cute!

The elastic was coming out of Anthony's pajamas. Most of the time he was running around with his pants around his ankles and sporting his diaper. Judson and Abbie took good care of him! Anthony had a great time with his cousins!
