Killdeer Bird Nests at the Field - The Killdeer bird is a noisy bird that lives in fields, airports, lawns, river banks, and shores. It must have thought the radio controlled airfield was an airport and decided it was a good place to nest. The mother bird and her mate displayed an amazing act of defense when we went near the eggs. There were three eggs at the mother's feet that blends in with the rocks. The mother bird puffed up her feathers and made a loud noise while the mate ran off to the side and pretended that his wing was broken in hopes that we would go after him before he made his flight escape.
