IMAC - Elm City, NC

IMAC (International Miniature Aerobatic Club) competition in Elm City, NC
Thomas won 3rd place in his intermediate class!

Friday Evening, Set Up Until Sunset, 3/20/09

Saturday, Show Down - Competition, 3/21/09

It was so cold! The pilots and judges were sitting on the flight line in sleeping bags and blankets trying to stay warm.

Jr. Pilot - In Training"Watch out Tio Primo, I'll have you knocked out of that Sportsman category in no time! Move on up to Intermediate before it's too late!"

"Only Tio Primo would let me sit on his airplane!"

Anthony had fun playing with Primo!

Thomas had to drag Anthony off Primo's shoulders!

Anthony found some indoor entertainment playing with a big balloon that Nana Midge gave to him.

Thomas was putting the finishing touches on the Out of Control airplane. Anthony was playing on his horse when he did the cutest thing! Anthony got off his horse, went over to his daddy's tool bag and got out a screw driver. He took the screw driver over to his horse and twisted it around on the screws! So cute!

Maiden Flight of the "Out of Control" Extra 260 Airplane

After the competition, Thomas was able to fly the Extra 260 for the first time. It flew perfectly and is a real attention grabber. It took a year for Thomas to build the airplane and for Ryan Young at Indocil Art and Design in Rock Hill, SC to airbrush paint very detail, down to the screw heads and helmet head pilot. The wheel pants even have a mountain scene reflection painted on them!

The story behind the name of the airplane "Out of Control" came from a joking comment that Heather made when Thomas order the airplane kit. Thomas already had one airplane he was working on when he ordered another kit. Heather's reply when she discovered another airplane kit had been ordered was, "You're out of control." Of course, it was a joking comment because Thomas is really responsible with his purchases and stays on a budget! When Ryan asked Thomas to name the airplane, "Out of Control" came to mind and thus the inspiration for the radical paint job on this one of a kind amazing airplane.

Sunday, Packing Up and Ready to Go - 3/22/09
