Today we explored Fantasy of Flight!
A restoration specialist guided us through the projects in the wood shop. Specialists disassemble, restore, and rebuild wooden aircrafts in this shop.
The mid-day aerial demonstration was really fun to watch and interesting to talk with the pilot after the flight.
All aboard this huge passenger aircraft. The bar picture below was the old time first class!
The Restoration Shop tour showed us an active workshop restoring the collection to a flyable condition. Kermit Weeks, owner, does not buy an aircraft unless he thinks it can be restored back to a flyable condition. His goal is to fly every aircraft he adds to his collection!
Fun in the Flight Center - There are many exploritory stations that teaches about the flow of air, flight, and allows realistic trips through the air on hang-guide and hot air ballon simulators. There were also two displays of airplanes that Mr. Kermit Weeks made when he was a teenager.
It's Gee Bee Zee - The Little Racer!
The tram tour took us on a guided journey to the restricted areas of the grounds where restoration projects are underway and numerous parts stored.
Corsair Fighter Game Simulators - Aerial battle video games that are played while sitting in the cockpit of a Corsair Fighter.
We couldn't decide on just one thing in the gift shop to buy Anthony so he got four suviniours: a "I Love Flying!" serving plate, an airplane bath toy, a "Sam the Seaplane" toy, and an audigraphed book "Gee Bee Zee - The Little Racer" by Kermit Weeks, Fantasy of Flight's owner.
